Big Bead Show

Yesterday was the 2nd Big Bead Show at Sandown Park run by Bead Magazine and of course I had to be there- such a hardship!

It was a delight to meet everyone who came up to me and to catch up with those of you who've been on my classes, or are coming to one soon, and of course fun to fit in some bead shopping.

I had put myself on a bead-buying ban to save for my holiday- especially now with the dollar climbing so high- but when I got there I just couldn't resist a few special pieces.

I went around lots of times to say hello to people and then once to 'just have a little look' without my purse convincing myself this would stop me shopping- no chance. I didn't get far before I spotted Julie Merrett's lovely lampwork and purchased a little glass bird and snowman from her.

I thought that was it, but I then found myself back at Julie Fountain's stand (Lush Lampwork) and admiring her fantastic Sunbaked Beads. I had looked at them around 4 times already but just couldn't decide what colour to get. Well I managed to decide and then ended up buying another set as well- it was called 'trapeze' how could I resist?!?

I also managed to buy a great focal bead but for the life of me I can't remember what it's made of- if anyone knows do get in touch and fill me in.

Another busy week ahead getting the next issue of Bead to print and trying to finish up on the last batch of words for my latest book as well as a trip to the Dangerous Beaders bead group and my monthly WI meeting, and then I'm teaching my chain maille class on Saturday which I'm really looking forward to.
