Work And Clay

posted: Friday, 05 September 2008

I'm back from France and hit the ground running with a busy week of work.
First up was the first of two photoshoots for my new book. Both of them went really well and fortunately the days I spent preparing wirework and stringing step-by-step samples and finished items paid off and we got all we needed to do done. The book will be out in August 2009 so check back nearer the time for more details.

I popped along to the Dangerous Beaders this week and had a polymer clay day where I made some beads using a cane I had made years ago and also some simple earrings using clay and mica powder as well as some new canes.

Wednesday night was a night out at the World Freerun Championships at The Roundhouse in Camden.
It's a great venue that I seem to have been to a lot recently. We saw Miss Behave's burlesque variety night here (inclduing the hilarious and un-pc Frank Sanazi and Spy Monkey one of whom I'd previously seen at the Barbican last december for the show Office Party) and also the comedians Richard Herring, Steve Hall and Rob Deering warming up for their Edinburgh shows.
The championships were great, even if they got off to a disastrous start with the first competitior falling badly. You can see a film of the highlights (including the fall!) here

I got a nice package of my beadwork back from Fire Mountain Gems and discovered that my necklace Geometric 2.8.1 won a Judge's Favourite award.
