Many, many decades ago I was a bridesmaid for one of my aunts and the day is a magical memory for me. Two of the highlights were the beautiful flower balls we held and our stunning blue dresses (much stronger blue than these old photos show) which were handmade by my talented mum.

This past December, after many years of not seeing each other, myself and the bride and other bridesmaids (one of my sisters and another aunt) took a photo together and I spurred me on to bead a project based on that flower ball and using a blue which reminded me of the dresses we wore so proudly.

The project became my Summer 2025 Secret Beadalong and every time I look at the finished blue version of it I can't help but smile and remember that day.

It was lovely back in July (and still continuing so thank you to everyone who shares) to see all the beautiful variations so many of you have beaded (you can see the 'Secret Beadalong' group on Facebook and you'll find hundreds of inspiring photos) and I hope those of you who have already beaded it now have happy memories of the project.
