When is coming soon not coming soon?…
As all those of you who've already been chasing me up for this project since the first time I publicly showed it at Bead Sparks 2019 (and then at 2022 & 2023 just to tease you ) it's been a long time coming…
I've been steadily beading variations on this since 2017 (I hadn't even realised it was that long until I scoured through old photos).
But, put simply, I don't like to rush things.
I like to work on a project until I know it inside out.
I like to test it until I've made sure it works with different brands of beads and in different colours & finishes.
I bead variations and try it in different colours until I know all its pitfalls and sneaky bits that might trip anyone beading it up so that I can either work out a way around them or make sure my instructions cover them so you don't get stuck.
I want to know exactly how the project works, and why it works that way, so that however you learn and understand things I can do my best to explain it to you.
I want know every detail of it to be prepared so that if anyone gets stuck and sends me a photo, or description, of their beadwork I instantly know where they've got to and what's probably gone wrong.
I want to work on it until I know its beaded in the easiest & most logical way possible (which I've finally cracked with this one which, seeing as it's a unique project, certainly has its own unique method…)
But in addition to all of that I want to work on it until I've exhausted all the variations I want to bead so that I can share photos & instructions for those with you too.
Then it moves onto the writing & diagrams stage which can take months with edits & re-edits plus testing by others as I want to make sure others can bead it with the instructions and that the project itself can be beaded by anyone and isn't dependent, for example, on my tension or way of holding my work.
When I shared this video on social media back on 17th April 2022 I thought I was getting near the end of that journey but seeing as there are currently 4 different variations sitting on different bead mats its journey may be a little while longer yet…
