Coveted

Another evening beading in front of the screen and this time it was a talk from the Victoria and Albert Museum.

The talk 'Coveted' has the theme 'a closer look at the intersection of jewellery, art and innovation' and it was very interesting and covered lots of the themes I've been interested in over the years about jewellery and it's value in the art world and especially how beaded jewellery sits in that.

Sadly jewellery is looked down on in the world of art and working with beads is at the bottom of the pile (even the V&A jewellery curator said to me 'no-one is interested in beads').

I think Jewellery is so much about the material and the value of that material and when people think we 'just use glass beads' the intrinsic value of what we do drops to them.

Such a shame it's not valued more
