Lockdown

Today Boris Johnson (the UK Prime Minister) announced we would be under 'lockdown' starting for 3 weeks with this to be reviewed.

This has been creeping up on us, and we've known it's going to happen, but to hear those words was shocking and fully sealed that we now live in a whole new World.

We'd already seen panic-buying (first of toilet paper and then store cupboard food such as rice , pasta, flour & eggs plus medicine) and the streets are emptier.

It's impossible to get online food deliveries (their websites are struggling to handle the traffic and they are trying to prioritise the vulnerable) and instead we have to queue outside the supermarket (all spaced 2 metres apart) to be let inside in small groups.

When you do get in the shelves are much emptier than usual and there is definitely anxiety in the air.

I'm extremely lucky that I already work mostly from home and that, whilst my teaching for the foreseeable future has been cancelled, I have plenty of work to keep me busy (beading deadlines for work to be taught in 2021 and 2022 still large and are rapidly approaching and if I want to work in future years I need to meet them).

But my heart is very heavy with worry for myself, my loved ones, my friends, everyone I know through beading and everyone around the World who is struggling at this devastating time.

I'm at a loss as to what else to write other than I wish you all the best.
