The eternal frustration of colour batches.
I began beading a new colour variation of my Quadrat Box thinking I had plenty of beads to finish it in the colour I wanted to use. But, as time has gone on, it's started to become apparent that I would run out and have to buy a new tube.
It just didn't occur to me that buying a new tube would mean I ended up with a different batch and different shade than what I was using. Thankfully colours are usually pretty consistent in beads and this doesn't happen often but when it does it's very annoying.
This isn't a great photo but at the top is Delica #2102 (glazed banana) - one of my favourite colours. It's a slightly shiny, warm yellow and I've used it for 80% of my latest beaded box.
At the bottom is also Delica #2102 but this time its a lot more matte and more orange than yellow- and I'm not a fan of it.
So what next?
In the end I bit the bullet and undid a few hours work so that I could keep the new batch to the bottom of the box I was beading and used a completely different colour for the lid. Not what I had in mind when I started, but thankfully it looked great in the end.
