New York 2018 - Day 1

posted: Friday, 29 June 2018

Very last minute I've run away to New York for a few days and, after an early start to the day, I'm determined to make the most of my trip and hit the ground running with meeting up with a good friend and heading to the Heavenly Bodies exhibition at The Met.

The exhibition was great, if somewhat confusing with it being spread out over so many areas. But there was so much to see and be dazzled by that it was worth the exploration.

We then walked miles and miles around the museum, wandering from one amazing area to another, all whilst being inspired & awed and catching-up. On our travels we saw 3,000+ year old beads & jewellery, stunning glass & mosaic work, pottery which was thousands of years old but looked like it was made yesterday, and hundreds of other beautiful things.

Our visit was capped off with a trip to the rooftop bar to enjoy the incredible sunshine and view.

Then it was more walking with a wander across Manhattan to the Westside for some riverside strolling before heading to the hotel, having dinner and collapsing with thousands of miles of flying, and 10+ miles of walking under my belt.
