Bead & Button 2014 Day 6

Today's class from Glenda Paunonen was her Obsession necklace and I like it so much I bought the kit myself!

After class the shopping opened and everyone dove in.

Sadly by now my fall from the other week, along with all the travelling and heavy lifting etc, was really catching up with me and by the end of class I was in agony from my shoulder tendon making its way out of its correct place and my skeletal structure distorting in compensation. So, sadly and very tearfully, I and decided to head to bed and shop another day.

But, not one to stay down for long I had a brief sob, dosed up on painkillers and bought a sling to support my arm and headed into the action. I figured I was only going to get to shop in the company of my friends once and I was going to do my best to be there!

Once in the shopping hall I had one stand I really wanted to visit - Gary Wilson Stones.

I wrote before about meeting Gary and every though I have, of course, not yet found the time to use what I bought from him them (or bought back in 2006!) I wanted to see what treasures he had for sale. I wasn't disappointed as I filled my tray with unusual treasures, such as cabochons made from vintage lunch-boxes and cocktail shakers, and more usual gemstone ones.

My need for cabochons sated I wandered the rest of the stands and discovered the lampwork artist Nikki Thornburg-Lanigan and the ceramic artist Marsha Neal. Both of their work bowled me over and I purchased a few things I'm excited to use hopefully soon.
