Triangles And Thoughts

Today is a busy day catching up from my day off yesterday.

Of course my day begins with returning all those dresses I bought, but then I knuckle down to diagram drawing and email replying.

I am fortunate in that, once I start, I really enjoy drawing diagrams. I see them as a challenge and it is satisfying to get them done. I always put them off for a while though as sometimes I am unsure just how I will represent something intricate and 3D in just a few 2D lines. But I usually get there in the end.

Yesterday whilst wandering the Royal Academy, I realised that my love of bibelots, curios, knickknacks and objet trouve is almost certainly genetic. My parents are both avid collectors of things. Nothing in particular, just things. Off the top of my head I know my dad likes medals (he caught this from me!), pipes, books, art, ties and watches. Being a wise man with much knowledge, he had heard of bibelots, but as a fantastic carpenter in a previous life he knew it as a cabinet to hold such things. It hadn't occured to me that my 'shelf of things' was my modern IKEA version of an old curio cabinet.

Excitingly today I booked to do an evening course on paper-cutting in July. This is taking place at the We Make London summer boutique which also features a pop-up shop selling handmade items from jewellery to cushions, ceramics to pictures and books to handmade wallpaper. You can see a full list of exhibitors here.

If you're around then make sure you pop in, not only to support the makers, but to treat yourself to seeing in person all the bound to be lovely items that will be there.

Unfortunately I am away teaching when the shop first opens on the 2nd July but I am sure I will manage to find some time to pop in when I get back....
