New York 2010- Day 1

posted: Thursday, 11 November 2010

I'm fortunate to be back in New York for another trip, and today is my first full day.

This year I have company and it seems we spend the first day fitting in as many touristy things as we can!

First up was a trip to the Broadway Restaurant for a hearty breakfast to keep us going and then on to the MAD Museum (Museum of Art and Design) which is a great place to visit, not only for its exhibitons, but also for its lovely shop full of beautifully designed work, inclding a lot of jewellery.

Unfortunately half of the gallery was closed due to preparations for a new exhibiton (which I am determined to try and come back and see) but there was plenty to inspire and delight.

Today is Remembrance Day (also known as Veterans Day in America) and we were privileged to be able to see the Veterans Day Parade.

Next it was on to Macys and then the Empire State Building for its fantastic views of the city.

After looking at the incredible views over New York we headed off to Times Square to have a look round before dinner and home to bed to recover from all our walking!
