Chops And Changes

Sometimes when I begin a project I'm able to take it to fruition quickly, but most of the time life and other work gets in the way and a project can take many years before it appears as a finished piece.

The piece I'm working on at the moment is one such example.

This began way back in 2013 and I last got a chance to spend any significant time on it back in October 2014 but today I'm playing around with it AKA altering it completely beyond recognition.

I love the helix affect I got with the 2014 sample but sadly when designing my work I always have to consider whether I can easily explain it to someone else and whether they'll be able to bead it. These thoughts, along with considering whether someone will be able to get the materials I used, or get the same results using those or different materials, affects everything I bead and directly influences what I make or what direction a project will go in.

How I beaded this makes complete sense to me but at the moment I'm not confident someone else will get the same result so I'm putting that direction on the back-burner for now and instead completely altering the component so it looks as it does today. fortunately the new way looks beautiful!

There are still many little bits & pieces I need to iron out so there's still many hours of beading and experimenting ahead of me but for now I'm confident in the direction the project is going and soon will have a finished necklace in my hands...
