Ladybird Cake

It's hard to believe that my little baby niece is 16 today.

It seems like barely weeks have passed since the dramatic night she was born and completely changed our family.

It's been fun watching her grown up to the be gorgeous, hilarious, ridiculous, kind and amazing person she now is. It's also been a lot of fun and joy being an aunt to all my lovely nieces.

I've always had a secret love of cake decorating so when my sister asked me to make a ladybird cake for my niece I had to say yes. Though if I'd known it would take me 8 hours (no thanks to some bad internet recipes for Red Velvet cake that was a solid lump and cream cheese frosting that was pure liquid). The cake making nightmare made decorating the cake a bit of a disaster and as I finally finished at 2am I was sworn off any more cake decorating for the time being.
