Bead & Button 2014 Day 2

Hitting the ground running today and I'm a 'teaching assistant' in the lovely Glenda Paunonen's gorgeous class Ode To Joy.

It was also a treat for me as I got to see my newest kit Captured Dreams (exclusive to Glenda's store Beads Gone Wild) in person.

The evening began with dinner with friends, including the lovely and amazing Suzanne Golden and Stacy Creamer (both of whom I'm a big all round fan of!) and then took a surreal turn when Stacy mentioned she was leaving early to go and see The Monkees in concert.

Before I knew it I was running through the worst rain storm I'd ever been in, all the while worrying my new blue hair would run, and on my way to see the Monkees live.

It was especially surreal for me as just 24 hours before I'd been catching up on my reading on the plane and had read a recent New Yorker piece on The Monkees and how Michael Nesmith is now performing with them again.

As I'd read the article I'd had so many thoughts and questions on the idea of fame and especially being famous for one small period of your life. I'd pondered if he'd be happy embracing the love his fans have for him and his work and wondered if they'd play the UK. So getting to see him live and be able to form my own opinion was an unexpected event.

For the record they were great- they rocked, made us laugh and gave their all for a very wet group of fans.

On the way out of the convert venue we overheard some music fans talking about Cher being in town this week...
