Yesterday we finally got the phone call I had spent sleepless nights waiting for and we are now buying the house I fell in love with at first sight.

Between the chaos of house-hunting and dealing with all the paperwork and hassle that creates, and now beginning to pack up our house, it was lovely last weekend to unexpectedly have a half hour respite as on our house-hunting travels we came upon a canal and a lock.

Back when I was 8 I did a project at school on canal boats and ever since I've been fascinated by them and canals but especially locks. Up until today I had never seen one in action and so when I realised a boat was going to go through it was the perfect excuse to take a breathe and watch.
