New York 2013- Day 2

posted: Saturday, 18 May 2013

An early start today as I catch the bus to Beads By Blanche in New Jersey. I know I have said it before but this really is one of my favourite places in the World. Never mind the incredible array of beads etc they have for sale, the welcoming atmosphere and the creative vibe are worth the trip alone.

For some reason this whole trip I took barely any photos so the wonderfulness of all the students work will have to go unshown. But fortunately I did manage to grab a shot of Joyce Chorbajian's wonderful Rick-Rack bracelet with gorgeous centrepiece. Joyce took the idea of the Rick-Rack with a clasp in Geometric Beadwork and then covered it with a bezelled cabochon.

There was a hilarious moment in class today when the lovely Bonnie Horowitz asked me how the eraser and pin (featured in Geometric Beadwork) works and then produced an incredibly large eraser...and then an even larger pin... I was so stumped I thought she was being genuine at first and it took my brain a few seconds to switch from 'serious teacher mode' and laugh at the ridiculousness of the scale.
