Knitting 2013

posted: Thursday, 03 January 2013

I've once again convinced myself I can knit and to prove it have even finished my first ever knitting project (well I once knitted once sock but it didn't fit, was wonky and I never made the second one, so I don't think that counts).

This is a scarf which I began six months ago (erm, perhaps 10 hours worth of knitting in all that time) when I bought the yarn at Glen Gallery Crafts. I am excited to be heading back there later this year and plan to be a knitting expert by then so i can justify buying lots of yarn...

To get myself closer to expert status I dove right in to a second project. This is yarn I tried using a little whole ago and wasn't happy with the results. This time I tried a new stitch (twisted drop stitch- you can see a video here) and it looks much better.

I know I am constantly trying to run before I can walk with knitting and I need to slow down. I need to spend more time just simply knitting and getting used to handling the needles and yarn before doing anything fancy, just like I always tell people about beading. But I do so want to knit something lovely...
