Cornwall 2012-Day 2

One of the beading projects I have brought with me to Cornwall is a big, bold necklace with a dramatic geometric and crystal pendant. But unfortunately as I beaded it last week I realised that I was ONE bead out.

Just ONE bead.

Of course this miserable ONE bead may not be apparent when you look at the piece, but then again it may be and when I add more layers I didn't want it to glare out from the photos.

So far I have resisted putting my scissors to it and undoing the 8+ hours of work it took, but I know the time has come.

So, scissors in hand, I make my move and reassure myself I have come up with a quick way to fix it which involves salvaging some of the pendant and beading the rest in reverse. So it should only take 2-3 hours.

And it does.

Except it doesn't work.

Fortunately I decided to test it for size before I went any further but it does mean taking the scissors out again...

This time I do almost exactly what I just did to repair it, but now take into consideration the way that 'things you want to be round when you bead them may not be round if you bead them starting with corners'. Don't worry, I know what I mean and I'm glad to say this third attempt works perfectly and I can move on with the project. I'm keeping the project secret for now, but as you can see from this photo of my beading tray it uses bronzes and blues- and I am in love with the colours.

I've also brought with me a herringbone project for a book which just needed it's beaded fastening added and once I have that all done it's time to once again reward myself with another section from the Luna Light kit I'm beading.

Then I decide I've worked so hard that a pint of guinnes, watching the setting sun and followed by fish, chips and mushy peas is also a deserved reward.
