Geometric Week 2011 Day 3

posted: Tuesday, 13 September 2011

When I came away this week, I (as always) packed a ridiculous number of projects to finish, books to read and magazines to peruse. The books have so far stayed unopened, the magazines have been only briefly browsed but at least one of the projects is racing on.

When I started the bangle I hoped that I might get half of it done by the end of the week, but the class is going so well (with everyone engrossed in what they're doing) that I am able to get rows and rows done. I'm also spending every spare break doing it, but that's no hardship as I get to sit and bead amongst friends. At this rate I might get it done tomorrow which would be great, and then my only dilemma would be which project to pick up next.

It's a class of mixed experiences, tastes and wants so a variety of different things are being worked on at once. One is beading 3D Geometric Triangles and interlocking them, one lady has made her version of Geometric 1-9-1 and another has begun a different pentagon bangle. Watching all the different varieties, with their multitude of colours, appear is great fun.

Talking of colours, outside my room are two similar paintings, by the same artist, in completely different colour schemes. The walls of Earnley are lined with the artwork of staff and students and I enjoy looking at them all. These two have captivated me with their similarities and differences and the completely different feel the use of colour has given each one.
