Today I'm busy working on making a lock to go with my recently beaded key.

Obviously I am not even going to begin trying to work out how to make a working lock (well, not at the moment maybe...) but want one which the key will fit into and that looks like an old padlock.

I have pondered beading the keyhole for months now and had two ideas of how to do it. The first one was a disaster from the outset, but fortunately the second idea worked.

Then it was onto making the keyhole part of a padlock and whilst I still have some way to go, I think I am getting there. It's a difficult task as I want it to look like, and have the same proportions as, a real padlock, but want it to still be wearable. So I think some playing around with the beadwork and its look is required.
