Travelling Home

Today I begin my long journey home where I hope it is sunny so that the come-down isn't too hard.

I am looking forward to seeing my loved one, being in my own bed and reflecting on my trip, but am sad to be leaving when on the one hand it feels as though I have lived here forever, but on the other hand as though I have just arrived.

I took no more photos today but have plenty left from my trip I will show you over the next few days and lots more things I learnt that I will mention.

Driving back to the airport, in Kate's open-top car, an amazing bird flew over us. We stopped and looked as it glided immediately overhead and opened its wings outwide, as though it knew we were looking and admiring. It seemed a surreal and fitting event and last image before I boarded the plane bound for home.

You can learn more about the tiki head here.

The medal Dustin very kindly gave me when he realised I loved medals. He assured me that the Military Order of the Cootie was genuine and not something he made up, but the only photos he had to show me appeared to show him wearing items which doesn't seem conclusive. Though as I was entirely convinced at the recent cryptozoology talk I went to (which had no photos at all) I appear to not even need evidence to believe something.

I am very tempted to Google the whole thing and learn more, but I also like the idea that it is some weird and elaborate lie Dustin has told me. Possibly one he has been working on for years, faking medals and clothes, just waiting for the right sucker who would be impressed by such things to come along.

Dustin may also have been winding me up when he told me he had seen nose oil for sale. That I have googled and though I have not found any for sale, it does seem a useful product.
