Slowly Back To Reality

I am still in Tucson but my trip is almost over.

The day begins with more filming and I get to watch Jeroen and Gabriella answer questions which leave us in wonder and hysterics. Do check out their films which you can find here and here.

Oh, and what's that? Another photo of me looking silly in a hat? Why yes it is. But at least this time I knew it was stupid and wore it for just that purpose. I have no such justification for any other photos you may find on the internet of me looking stupid in a hat...

Soon Jeroen and Gabriella leave and once again it is just Kate, Dustin and myself. I am starting to feel very excited to be going home to my loved one, but sad to leave Tucson, the sunshine, the colours, the scenery, the house, the cats and my friends behind.

It has been such an amazing trip for me and I feel I have learnt so much, whether about beading, myself or others, and perhaps it is time to go home and give my poor head a rest.

In order to cure the sadness, lunch and shopping seems the idea prescription. So Kate and I head down-town for food and accessories consolation.

I am aware that I feel I want to take as much of Tucson home with me while I can, and also need to re-adjust the 'sensible to non-sensible' shoe ratio which I upset yesterday. So I end up with 2 new pairs of gorgeous shoes from Kanella's. There were 3 pairs I adored, but I reasoned that not only was returning home with 4 new pairs of shoes a bit much, but, by leaving that 1 pair, I had reason enough to return soon.

Next up was Preen, to look at both vintage clothes and furniture, where I bought two rings. I was unable to choose between the 2 and, as I immediately worked out at least 4 different ways I could wear them (whereas with 1 ring there is only 1 way) it seemed a wise and money-saving decision to buy them both. They were also ridiculously cheap which both pleased and saddened me as although it meant I could afford them, it also meant someone wasn't being paid much for their hard work.

Onwards we wandered and enjoyed the sun until it was time to return home and for me to begin my strange 'packing but not packing in an effort to pretend I'm not really going home but do actually need to get on with the job' ritual which I can usually spread out over days. This mainly involved wandering the house looking for where I had hidden my belongings, moving them from one place to another and trying on my new shoes.

Soon it was time for dinner and, in search of cowboys and steaks, we headed to El Corral. As many meals here seem to be, it was a weird experience involving possibly fake sour cream, unbelievably strange meat in large amounts served, of course, with strange American cheese and service which pretty much defies description. Fortunately their steak was out of this world and the tamale pie delicious- though, surprise, surprise, covered in that non-cheese-cheese I seemed to have consumed gallons of during my trip.

There were also no cowboys. But the steaks and company made it worth the trip.

Fed and watered we headed to the cinema to see Super which was hilarious, violent, funny, poignant, cartoony and weird in equal amounts. If that's your thing, go and see it, but if you have any doubts about those qualities then perhaps not. We left fired up and ready for escapades, convinced we could be super-heroes but, as it was past our bedtime we settled for simply heading home to sleep.
