Great British Bead Show

A nice day today teaching at the Great British Bead Show and the first time I have taught my "Faux Cro" class.

It's always nerve-wracking teaching a class for the first time as you have no idea what questions and issues will arise and also until you have seen others try your technique or project you don't know if it will work for them, is easy enough to teach or learn or even if they will like it!

Fortunately the technique went down very well with most of the class having tried bead crochet before and either been unsuccessful at it or they had just found it hard and were looking for an alternative- which is exactly why I came up with the technique so that was perfect.

A lot of the class finished at least a bangle during the day as well as move on to experiment with other designs, colours or bead configurations, and that's just one of the things I love about "Faux Cro". Because, unlike with regular bead crochet, you don't have to sit and thread all those pesky beads on first (ignoring all the potential for error...) you don't have to stick with something you know will work or you will like. This method is much more open to experimentation and playfulness as these pictures of some of the work of two students shows.

Class over I voted in the challenge (Sorry no photos. Close-up photos (i.e. ones that would actually show anything worth seeing) were not allowed so rather than show you a photo of a far-off table with some white sheets and a mirage of work being admired by people you don't know, I shall leave you to imagine the great work there was), said some very quick goodbyes (I was exhausted and still needed to get home, beaad and pack) and headed back to London.

Once home my bangles had finally arrived and I was able to do the last of my beading before packing 3 bangles and a spare neckwire up for posting.
