Bridal Considerations

Patterns proofed, website updated, newsletter sent out and I am free to bead once again.

Unfortunately I have run out of the Delicas I need for my recent beaded beads. But fortunately this means I can get started on a project which has been in the back of my mind for a while now but has been really nagging at me for over two weeks.

Ever since I saw the spire of St Brides I wanted to replicate it in beads. But what has been brewing away in the back of my mind is the question of what colours to use.

Do I plump for virginal white? Stone colours? Or pretty pinks?

When I think of brides I think cream, peach and pink- pretty colours. Add in the fact I am trying to re-create a tower made of stone and I think the colours need to be light and more subtle maybe than I usually use.

Today I rummaged in my bead boxes and grabbed lots of tubes of size 15s and left them in groups depending on what box they came out of, but it was soon clear that these weren't going to work.

White with grey and black seemed too severe.

Cream and stone with mustards too unlike what I saw.

Pinks and reds are also too unlike what I saw and too strongly coloured what what I want to create.

So I guess I'll try and find a happy medium somewhere amongst the beads.

I plan to put them all on my tray, begin beading and see what grows. I am hoping that once I get started, and the shape and structure develops, the colours it "needs" to be will be apparent.

I'm holding out for the Goldilocks feeling of the colours being just right.

Then again I might get weary of subtle and go for bold. You can get married in lime green and hot pink right?
