Beading Experiment Part 2

posted: Thursday, 10 February 2011

I have put away my previous experiment and begun a new one- still trying to create the vision I have in my mind.

I know I want to bead a set of bangles, using these large crystals, which fit together so you can wear lots of them at once if you love non-subtle jewellery like me.

I was toying between peyote stitch and herringbone but decided to go with peyote as that will result in the crystals laying the way I imagine them to.

I was going to use seed beads in sizes 15, 11, 8 and 6 but pretty soon on in my experimenting it was obvious that 15s were far too small. It then didn't take long to realise that, with the size of the crystals, even 11s were visually too small.

You can see in this photo where I have got to with my experimenting- a few variations on the same piece all based on basic peyote with just changes in the bead sizes, number of rows and numbers and placement of decreases and increases.

I think I have managed to get the general look I am aiming for- now I just need to perfect it and bead a bangle or two to make sure!
