Those of you in the UK who love food will probably be big fans of The Great British Menu which is currently on its 3rd series on BBC2.
I was fortunate enough today to go along to a dinner created by the seven finalists from last year and have a fantastic meal.
We ate:
- Canapes by Jason Atherton- lots of lovely things like raw tuna and risotto balls.
- Amuse- bouche by Tom Kitchin- haggis, neeps and tatties.
- Starter by Stephen Terry- Smoked salmon with beetroot jelly, fresh horseradish, sour cream and caviar.
- Fish course by Danny Millar- poached halibut with cockle and smoked bacon chowder.
- Main course by Nigel Haworth- baked cannon on lamb, caramelised sweetbreads, asparagus and samphire.
- Pre dessert by Chris Horridge- verbena blancmange, early summer fruit probio, "Nutrasouptical" & flower tissue (even though I ate it I still have no idea what all of that means!).
- Dessert by Glynn Purnell- chocolate truffle- this came with mango sorbet and what were suspiciously similar to cocoa pops!
The food was amazing and the champagne, wine and desert wine was flowing very, very freely- so freely in fact that I forgot to take any photos until half way through the last course.
