My life has been very busy recently with Bead magazine undergoing a re-design (and an extra 16 pages being added- yikes!) teaching a lot, finishing up the book and generally all the other work that life and running your own business involves.
But today I treated myself and had a day with no work (well apart from the 2 hours of emails before and afterwards and the proof-reading on the tube!)
My day was spent in the company of lots of lovely ladies attending a class by the polymer clay artist Lisa Pavelka. The day was organised by Carol Blackburn who you may remember I worked with to get a polymer clay group started in London. I'm delighted that the group is ongoing and going from stength to strength even if I never manage to get there!
It was lovely to catch up with everyone I knew- some of whom I hadn't seen since april 2005!
The class was really interesting and covered making faux dichroic glass as well as using transfers and making a pendant. I managed to finish the bracelet but we all ran out of time to finish our pendants. Unfortunately they need to be finished with a gel which uses UV light to set which may take a while in the distinctly unsunny London!
Now back to work- I'm delighted to have added- due to much demand- a new class on beading with peyote stitch. If you're interested in getting started with seed bead work or want to learn more about this wonderful stitch (which I use for my geometric pieces of beadwork) then this is the class for you.
