Ignoramus Follow-Up

I wrote previously about spending a day with Francesca Walton and her incredible wide-range of knowledge and today I was delighted to get to spend another day with her and continue my education.

We began with a visit to Opus Anglicanum: Masterpieces of English Medieval Embroidery which was wonderful and so inspiring with its motifs, colour and exuberance. Francesca was the perfect person to go with as her knowledge on embroidery and religious imagery is second to none and I learnt so much more than I would have just viewing it.

Then we had the chance to sit, chat and look at beadwork for hours. Francesca kindly brought along her absolutely incredible, and justifiably award-winning, piece 'I Will Rise'. I had seen this in photos but never got to see it in person and I cannot express just how jaw-dropping it is in real life. This has to be one of the top pieces of beadwork ever created and I am honoured to have to seen and held it (and tried it on!) in real life.

By the end of the day I was worn out, my brain was full with new facts and colour inspiration and already looking forward to Francesca's next trip to London.
