New York 2015 - Part Two - Day Eight

posted: Thursday, 01 October 2015

We're 4 days into LOOT and we're all slowly coming down with flu...

This does not bode well for the rest of the week as we still have 3 days to go and the next 2 are long ones.

Being at the show has been an incredible experience in people-watching, though sadly not all good. It's amazing that by being stood behind our booths customers, and people working the show, assume we cannot hear what they say even though we're just 2 foot away and have been just talking to them. Having someone smile and compliment your work and then turn to their friend and say how ugly and overpriced they think it is can be a bit shocking - though it does give us something to laugh about over cocktails later!

I don't expect everyone to love my work, in fact I'm quite sure it's an acquired taste, but at least wait until you're out of my earshot before you rip into it, especially if you're a beader who has just asked me to send you some free patterns...

After the show we head out for food and drink and the purchase of a Mickey Mouse trick or treating bucket is enough to distract me from the rest of the day.
