New York 2013- Days 9 and 10

posted: Sunday, 26 May 2013

Yesterday I had a great beady-get-together with friends and we had good fun exploring my Geoemtric Suspensions. Of course I didn't take a single photo!

In the evening we went to dinner, at Saxon + Parole (again)  with the supreme Suzanne Golden where we chatted, laughed and ate. I can't believe I only get to see her and my other very dear New York friends once a year. I miss them greatly the rest of the year.

We ate so much that we had to skip the desserts we had our heart set on, but I hope to squeeze in a return visit before I go home.

One highlight of the day was being introduced to the work of Charley Harper- and it was instant love. I am a huge fun of this type of work and was pleased to discover a new artist. You can see a lot of his work here on this website selling prints and ornaments and here on this Google image search. One of the best things I learnt about him was that you can buy tapestry canvases of his work...

Today the sun was still blazing away and having done some internet searching I knew I could get hold of a Charley Harper canvas just 20 minutes walk away from where we were staying at Purl Soho.

Off we set enjoying the sunshine, colour and buzz of the Sunday and once we got to Purl, where of course I didn't think to take any photos which was a shame as it is such a colourful shop, I spent a long time trying to decide which of the many different ones they had. Fortunately they didn't have the full range that they have on the website or I may never have been able to decide! In the end I settled on Lovey Dovey and I can't wait to have a chance to stitch it. It will probably be sometime in 2014, if I am lucky, but I'm itching to choose colours.

After shopping we wandered around until we were hungry and once we realised that we were just minutes from Saxon + Parole there was no debate about where to head. We sat outside and enjoyed BLATs (BLTs with added avocado) and their PBJ which was peanut panna cotta and many other things- amazing.
