Second Day Teaching In Germany

posted: Saturday, 01 September 2012

Today is my first full day of teaching and we're concentrating on triangles and ropes.

Of course everyone works hard and some great variations begin to appear. But even better is that everyone is wearing beadwork- yay!

Very strangely today I got to see my last book in its German version. Firstly it was nice to see that despite, for various reasons, in the UK and US it only being labelled as '200 tips' here it's '300' - an acknowledgment of just how much I squeezed into it. It was very weird to open the pages of a book I am so familar with and not be able to understand any of it. Strange and delightful.

Also today I got to meet the lovely Marie Mieschner and see some of her work. Both her and Tina have made me really want to bead this incredible seahorse- and wear it of course.

I always really enjoy seeing the different tastes and preferences in beadwork, and the different range of supplies available, as I travel and here is no exception. It seems to me that German beaders use crystals in their work far more than we do in the UK and there is a much better range of findings available. I soon take advantage of this and begin a new project using some little metal triangles Claudia sells.
