Teaching Geometric Beads

A trip down to Dorset today to teach both my Peyote Geometric Beaded Beads and the Brick Stitch version.

These are both great projects to play around with colour as exactly where you place each colour, and the others you combine it with, have a big effect on the finished result.

As always I really enjoy seeing what everyone makes over the day and the colour combinations they use.

I also enjoy getting to visit StitchnCraft Beads and indulging in a very small spot of shopping...It all began when I spotted the supplies someone had for one of the stages in the Treasure Challenge the shop are running. Once I knew the details I was very tempted and, as someone who is always encouraging others to enter competitions or take on personal challenges, and I hadn't done either for a little while, I thought I might give it a go..quite when I think I'll find the time I have no idea. But I came home with my little selection of sparklies and my mind is already whirring with what I might make, just as soon as I find the time. I don't think I will enter the competition as I may be showing my progress (assuming I make any) here but will try and stick to the deadlines and themes etc.

Another pleasure of visiting the shop is seeing what they have on display. Each month they have work from a different artist, or group of artists, on show in the class room. You can see what will be on show over the next year here. Very excitingly I will have my work on show in February.

At the moment the room is filled with the colourful work of Pauline Janet Spence. With a mix of beadwork and mixed media pieces there was plenty to look at from small brooches to a very large display entitled 'Vortigerns Tower'. If you can get to the shop before the end of the month you can catch the exhibition but if not, I'm sure whenever you do visit there will be plenty to look at.
