Post Wedding Day

It's the day after the wedding and after a late start (some people have sore heads) it's on to more events.

As many people have travelled some distances to the wedding my sister has organised a weekend of events and first up today is a treasure hunt in the village.

We all split into groups and have an hour to wander the village (wearing masks which are obligatory or you lose points) answering questions about building, sights etc and trying to find the mystery items in photos and take your own photos of them to prove you found them.

We all head off at different times, and, as there's no way to cover the whole area in an hour, we all head off in different directions (keeping within your group) to see where you think you can score points.

Along the way there are masked men who can leap out and challenge you to forfeits for extra points. We end up doing farmyard animal impressions and playing (and winning!) Pooh Sticks all in the name of extra rewards.

Unfortunately due to dastardly (and admittedly very clever) cheating on some of the teams' behalves we don't win but great fun is had by all. I'm just not sure this quiet and sleepy little French village will ever recover from hoardes of people (of all different nationalities) scouring hedges, looking under cats, photographing lamp-posts and ballroom dancing in the street. All whilst wearing masks of course.

Treasure hunt completed, winners rewarded and losers water-bombed, it was time for a picnic in the fabulous sunshine where we all continued chatting, laughing and ruminating on the previous days events.

Soon the sun as coming down and we all headed back to my parents' garden to lie on hay bales, eat popcorn, snuggle under blankets and watch Father of the Bride projected onto a big screen as the sun came down. A great day all round.

I'm finishing this blog a week later and ever since I posted yesterdays tale I have been inundated with requests for photos of my sister, her dress and her jewellery. In all these years no-one has ever asked me for more photos of any of my work but one photo of a blushing bride and you all want more. I'll try not to take it personally!

Never one to disappoint, I have checked with her, and here are some more. Of course I didn't manage to take close-up ones of her jewellery, but she very kindly says when the official ones appear I can use those. She obviously hasn't read where I called her idiotic and annoying yesterday! I meant it the nicest possible way (now she knows she's on here she will be reading this).

I also had one request for a photo of me in my fascinator. If any of you are followers of the blog, you will have noticed by now that there are almost no photos of me on here (I think in 5 years there are maybe 2). And that is how I wish to keep it. Just as I'm not a hat person, I am also not a photograph person. But on this occasion, even if only to prove I am a fascinator person, I will agree. But just in case any of you decide to accost me in the street, thinking I carry the secrets to geometric beading around with me at all times, I will only appear heavily in disguise.

I don't usually wander around in this disguise (though I am tempted to now I have seen how good I look in it) but as in all the other photos of the day I am gurning, or looking stupid without meaning to, I found this one taken of me dressing up at the photo-booth where at least I am meaning to look stupid. It doesn't show the fascinator well but if I find a better one I'll put it up.
