Miniature Flowers Day 2

posted: Saturday, 02 July 2011

I'm up early today and raring to go with my class.

This is the long day of the weekend and there's lots to teach and show and of course chat about.

At lunchtime I decide to take advantage of the incredible sunshine we have again and wander into Earnley itself which is a small village containing a lovely church. Originally built in the 12th century, the church is peaceful and beautiful and just right for somewhere to sit and contemplate life on this sunny day. Its cool interior causes me to pause and reflect and before I know it, it's time to head back to class. But not before buying a book on bobbin lace and one on wood-turning (that one's not for me) for the grand sum of 25p each.

Whilst here I also admire the church's one stained glass window. It is dedicated to a former Earnley resident, Yvonne Hudon/ Rusbridge, and based on her own designs.  I also admired all of the handmade kneelers and so was pleased to see when I 'googled' Yvonne that she had designed them all.

Back to class and back to work. I am being very productive this weekend and enjoying the almost mediative aspect of the process. Almost without realising it I am creating peices of jewellery and am really pleased with the results.

Class stops for dinner at 5.30, but of course we all carry on working until dinner and then back again as soon as we can afterwards. But not before some ladies enjoy a game of croquet in the grounds whilst I sit and watch them and also enjoy the setting sun. An idyllic day.
