Beading History

posted: Friday, 11 March 2011

I have been busy recently looking through all of my archives of beadwork and instructions, making sure I have written everything up and offered it on this site before adding new items.

It's been great fun to look at work that at one point was all I could think about with beading samples, working on instructions, drawing diagrams etc and which end up being packed away into boxes as I move onto a new idea. So many memories packed away in those boxes!

It has also been great to see a lot of work that isn't in any way geometric. At times I forget I can do anything that doesn't have corners, so re-discovering pieces not made with angles and cylinder beads has given me a real boost.

One of the items I found were those in my "Cubed Flowers" series. I beaded these back in 2004-2005 and made the instructions available here back in 2009.

Imagine my surprise after looking at them only this week for the first time in two years, for a book to turn up in the post today with a version of them on the cover!

This is a new peyote stitch book from Kalmbach and it's a pleasure to have made the cover.
