London Cocktail Week- Day 2

posted: Tuesday, 12 October 2010

Todays cocktail excursion begins with a trip back to Callooh Callay where the immensely knowledgable Nick Strangeway was giving a talk/ demo/ tasting on Edwardian cocktails.

Over the course of the next few hours we sampled a punch and I have no idea how many other cocktails.

The conversation veered from making sloe gin in a dishwasher (replicating a sous vide), the history of English royalty, cocktails and cocktail equipment, cocktail books, that "Chernobyl" is the Russian for vermouth, the difference between lemon verbenna and lemon balm plus numerous other subjects which made for a very entertaining time.

As I was off to skating later I was only able to gently sip and not partake too much of the wonderful punch, but I still had a great time.

Afterwards it was onto The Diner for some every spicy chilli to warm me up and get me ready to rush around on skates.
