Meet The Maker Week 2016 - Day 3

posted: Wednesday, 30 November 2016

It's Day 3 of #meetthemakerweek and the theme is... 'Your space'.

Back in August I shot 2 videos of my workspace (which you can see here and here) as part of National Beading Week and am sharing them again today so you can see where I work along with a photo of where I actually sit and bead!

When we moved 3 years ago a separate workspace was an essential component as previously I'd been working from the spare bedroom/ kitchen/ sitting room/ shed etc and it gets pretty hard when you have 1,000 books delivered and have to store/ post!

As soon as we saw this house online we knew it was perfect- I have a dedicated workspace which (mostly) keeps my work out of my the rest of the house and means I 'go to' and 'leave' work each day (kind of, leaving work for the day generally means beginning another 4-8 hours of beading for work).

This photo shows where I do all my important work... The sofa in the sitting room!

I love this room as it's full of colour & art including my hand-painted paint chart wall which was an idea for 20+ years and finally came to fruition last year.

Today my copy of the wonderful Feed Sacks book from Uppercase (an amazing magazine I urge you to check out) and was pleased to have the opportunity to read it on the train to and from my rope jewellery workshop at Dark Room London where I began this colourful piece.
