It's Day 20 of March Meet The Maker and the theme is: Sketchbook.

I usually carry a notebook around with me so when inspiration strikes I'm ready to do a quick sketch - this is after years of realising that unless I capture it that amazing jewellery design that came to me vanishes into the ether no matter how hard I try to remember it.

In times of need I have also been known to use napkins, margins in books or magazines or even my hand to get down that all important drawing!

A few years ago I added the Series section to my website so you can follow a design from my first idea and scribbles right through to completion and beyond and as soon as I have more time I’ll be adding to it with my recent work.

Sadly I have more notepads of ideas than time but I hope to get around to more of them soon.

It's our 2nd full day in New York and despite this being a family holiday I have ditched them and headed out to visit Beads By Blanche and do a class with the talented Melissa Grakowsky Shippee.

It was such a treat to get to spend the day as a student and spend some time beading. I didn't get much beading done as my thumb was sore and I wanted to catch-up with everyone (and do some shopping of course) but I love the project and hope to finish it soon.
