Welcome To 2016!

The new year is here and I'm starting as I mean to go on- with lots of beading.

I managed to finish Laura McCabe's gorgeous Deco Bracelet and also bead another section for a recently finished necklace which means by simply swapping out sections I can alter the wearing length of the piece.

This ideal of making my beadwork adjustable, interchangeable and versatile is something I've been working on a lot over the last few years and is an avenue I want to explore further. Beading takes so long that is nice to get as much versatility out of the time you spent making something as possible. Also not everyone has the exact same taste, and our tastes can change day to day so it'd nice to be able to alter a design to suit your tastes and what you're in the mood for.

I do this a lot with my work as often I will bead the 'big catwalk' version which is eye-catching and to my taste but I always make sure that it can be altered in size and scale (and often purpose) so that you can make it to fit what you want.

It can sometimes be a challenge to do that but it's a challenge I enjoy and one I look forward to exploring further this year.
