Feet, Food And Fun

Sadly my Multiple Sclerosis is causing me lots of problems with my feet, legs and hands and I've developed a drop in my foot which makes me stumble some days and causes me immense pain at night when all my muscles are tired of fighting each other. But today I had an appointment with a specialist physio to help me recover sensation, movement and control.

It was an exhausting two hour session including at one point me simply walking up and down the ward for 5 minutes having my walking monitored whilst everyone else who was having treatment had nothing to do but watch me intently.

5 minutes may not seem like a long time but it felt like hours to me and I spent most of the time questioning if I even knew how to walk properly and convincing myself I'd forgotten how to.

I also learn I had lost more sensation that I'd realised and my balance is shot. Hopefully all the exercises I've been given will help and its onwards and upwards.

It was all over with before long and I got to leave and enjoy the sunshine.

My first stop was to reward myself with a mocha and some freshly made cheese and spinach bread at the Mary Ward cafe before heading off to spend the rest of the day with a friend celebrating her birthday and dangling our feet over the Regent's Canal and catching-up whilst enjoying the sunshine - the perfect antidote to the morning.
