Today was my first day teaching after a lovely day off yesterday spent falling in love with Lisa's dog and watching Dr Who on the couch with her son- heaven and the perfect way to recover from the flights!
The day started fantastically with meeting up with Gabriella van Diepen.
I have raved about Gabriella and her work here before so it was a real pleasure to get to see her (and her work) again. I know she is recognised a lot for modelling for books and especially wearing the Heroine Necklace (and there will be more photos of her wearing it in Geometric Beadwork Volume 2) but I hope that doesn't obscure recognition of her wonderful beadwork in its own right. She truly is an amazing beader whose work and ideas are leaps and bounds beyond what I could ever do or imagine. Fortunately you can see more of her in Marcia DeCoster's great book 'Marcia DeCoster Presents' so I recommend you all get a copy to be bowled over by the work by everyone contained in there.
Class today was my Orbit Beaded Beads and everyone had fun playing with the cabochons and colours. City Beads really does have a wonderful range of beads and I have to say I spent a lot of time finding new beads to fall in love with.
After class four of us headed out to Aviary which is a bar I have wanted to visit for a long time. You can see my full write-up here on my food and drink blog but rest assured the evening was full of good drink and lots of laughs and catching-up.
