Skating And Colours

posted: Sunday, 05 January 2014

Today is the last day off for lots of people and tomorrow signals a return to work/ school/ normal life. Making the most of the day we headed off to the Tower of London for some outdoor ice-skating and brandy-laced hot chocolate. I was hopeless at the skating (a combination of terror at falling over without knee-pads on and wide feet not being suited to ice-skating boots) so my role was primarily photographer/ drinker.

One sadness of Winter for me is how everyone seems to suddenly begin dressing so darkly. In this time of darkness we need colour and light even more (not least to stop you being run over!) so I always try to buck the trend with my orange coat and colourful shoes and scarves and today I was pleased to see splashes of colourful clothes when out and about.

An added treat was my sister giving me a little saucepan with a funny wooden handle that I had coveted when I saw it in her house. It's almost too precious to use and sadly my internet searching has yielded me no further info but it's now a treasured possession.
