Ruby Wedding Anniversary

This weekend is my parents' Ruby wedding anniversary so a trip over to France to celebrate it with them was in order. The weather has been appalling recently but as we headed down the motorway we were blessed with the clouds parting and the sun shining.

Unfortunately we missed our Eurotunnel train and had to wait 3 hours for the next one- time we primarily spent browsing duty-free, giving each other make-overs using the samples, testing every perfume we found and challenging each other to attempt to climb everything in the deserted childrens' playground. The main discovery was that we're not anywhere near as fit as 7-year olds, and that I already regret twice climbing up and over a rope wall to see if I could do it, especially as I somehow managed to burst a blood vessel in the palm of one of my hands causing immense pain and swelling. I really am growing weary of injuring my hands at the moment. Even ignoring the broken finger, the pouring hot wax on them last October, getting an infected finger the other week and numerous others incidents, I have managed to burst this blood vessel, cut one fingers quite badly with a pen and get a nasty burn on another one- all since last Monday- what the hell?

Once in France it's all go. Our delayed journey meant we arrived once all the preparation were done and we merely had time to pop on our party outfits (I brought 8 pairs of shoes with me as I was far too tired to choose when I packed last night) and get mingling

The joy of being with friends and family, many of whom I had not seen in years, combined with sunshine, laughter and dancing meant the hours flew by and a wonderful day was had by all.
