Cornwall 2012-Day 6

Arrghh, I spoke too soon about my finger. It's nicely infected now but at least not so painful but I'm going to go slow on the beading just in case.

So instead, knowing that obviously the best cure-all will be good food, a walk and some shopping, we head to St Ives.

First up is lunch at Portmeor Beach Cafe- fabulous as always- and then a wander up and down tiny streets, a peruse of many shops, a pop into a craft 'fayre' where I bought these small wooden boats and then a bit more wandering, and watching the wind blow the waves up onto the streets before a trip to Red Hot Sal at St Ives. I love Sally Carver's work so it is always a pleasure to see it in person and also to know that there is a shop selling lampwork and bringing beads and jewellery using it 'to the masses' Go Sal! (and Adam of course).

St Ives is a great place to wander. It's full of back streets, cafes where you can rest after walking up and down slopes, or just recover from opening your purse, and you never know when you're going to come across a new art gallery where you can walk in and be filled with wonder. One of my favourite places to visit is Imagianation where you can see the work of Seb West, Jon Tremaine and Yvonne Coomber amongst others. Check out the prints available by Yvonne here and marvel at the colour in them. You can also pop and see Seb's studio just on the outskirts of St Ives and see what else you can find on your way there.
