Covering All Bases

Work is progressing behind the scenes on Contemporary Geometric Beadwork and if you want your order to come with extra swag then you have only another 6 days to order.

One of the best things about doing the book ourselves is that we get to decide what goes in it. That means we get to add in all those extras we want included and show you what we mean with extra pages and extra projects.

One example is teaching you the basic techniques of triangles and making 3D work. Sure we could simply show you it with diagrams (which of course we will do) and encourage you to practise and make samples (Always! You learn so much doing this and nothing beats actually beading something to teach you all its nuances) but why not combine those basic instructions with a project?

This is what I'm working on at the moment- a quick to bead, colourful bangle project which shows you all the basics in easy, short rows which is ideal to master the ideas, or even just introduce you to geometric beading if you're a beginner at it.

The book will have a mix of quick, interchangeable style projects and longer-term more time-consuming ones. Personally I love both types and always have a few of each on the go at once. The newest big project I'm working on will probably take me at least another 80 hours to finish so I need something quicker to work on at the same time to at least feel the end is in sight!

Today I packed up more kits, bound more instructions for all my upcoming classes and shipped out the pentultimate Cerulean and Pumpkin Pointy Pentagons materials pack. There is one left sitting all alone and seeing it sitting there has reminded me that I really need to get on with the bangles for my new limited edition kits but seeing as there are at least 7 projects sitting ahead of them on my to-do-list they may be a while...
