Trying Hard

I've travelled to Buckinghamshire for a few days to teach at the lovely Great Missenden. The theme of the week is Geometric Beadwork and I plan on working everyone hard. It's only a small group but one lady has travelled from Florida and one from Israel, so the pressure is on to make their trip worth it!

I've also brought lots of my own beading to do during down time and the evenings, and to also keep me occupied as everyone is beading away so I'm not tempted to hover behind them all the time making them suddenly drop beads, get knots and lose needles. I know that's how I am when someone is watching me.

I'm sure many of you have picked up by now on my love for the 30mm crystals that I have used in a few projects. Well, actually I guess the only project you've seen them used in is Geometric 1-9-1, my other main project is still hidden until it's published later in the year. But be assured I do love them and am always looking for ways to use them.

I came here with an idea of making a geometric bezel for one and that's what all my experiments today have been about. I have the general idea in my mind but am struggling to translate it into reality as each time I do something it seems to unexpectedly affect how the piece physically works. I think I can work all those issues out when at home, with no distractions, but the next stage will then be working out how to bead it and write it up in an easier way as at the moment it seems far too complicated to get across to anyone else.
