Half Way There

I'm sitting in Cairo airport waiting for my internal flight to Aswan and the adventure that will follow.

I'm usually a really bad packer and take far too many clothes, shoes, books etc with me but this time I was determined not to do that and packed light. 25lbs under my allowance even- most unlike me!

Unfortunately though, that skimpy packing meant I didn't bring much to read and I've got through most of it already on the way here. Lesson learnt- extra books are worth the weight.

But fortunately I packed some beads in my hand-luggage so I've got my eye on a comfy looking sofa and will sit with a tray on my lap passing the 5 hours until my flight beading away.

Landing in Cairo was a great experience as you fly over the pyramids and they are a wonder to behold. I visited Egypt, probably about 15 years ago, but have bad memories of visiting the pyramids- too many people, too many aggressive sellers targeting females and separating them from their groups and definitely too many camels. The whole time I was unable to stop, stand and just look without being harrassed so never got to enjoy their wonder. Viewing them from the air more than made up for that. Here's to the rest of the trip going as well.
