The crucible being carried
Molten metal in the moulds- two have cracked which is why the metal has poured out of the bottom
A great piece of street art spotted in Battersea
A busy day today which includes a trip to the foundry of the Royal College of Art organised by The British Art Medal Society.
Although I have made some medals myself and done some "lost wax" casting (to make a charm for my bracelet), I have not been involved in the casting process so it was interesting to see how it was done.
It really is a hard, physical, industrial task and it's incredible how it can be used to create such beautiful pieces of art.
